Elisabeth A. Burg was welcomed into the arms of her Lord on June 1, 2017.
Elisabeth was born in Heidelberg, Germany on October 18, 1938. Even as a small child, she always dreamed of living in the United States. In 1958, her dream came true, and as a young mother with a two month old baby boy on her hip, she arrived in Chicago, IL.
However, nothing compares to the freedom Elisabeth found in Christ on January 22, 1975. From that moment on, her love and devotion centered on her Lord, her family, and others.
She loved real estate and was a successful agent with Century 21. She was a very involved member at Brentwood Baptist Church and Elk Grove Baptist Church leading women’s Bible studies and teaching Sunday School.
Known for her strength and resilience mixed with a selflessness and love for others that is unrivaled by most, she lived a full life, surrounded by friends and family who loved her most dearly.
In her last weeks, Elisabeth commented to her son, “For as much as I desired so strongly to arrive in America, I am even more excited for my next trip – to arrive at my Heavenly Home.”
She was pre-deceased by the love her life, her husband, Richard Burg. She is survived by her six sons: Charles (Reba) Hervas, Roy (Lynda) Hervas, George (Sue) Hervas, Raymond (Penny) Burg, Kenneth (Jeanne) Burg, and Douglas (Sue) Burg; her three daughters: Kathy Hunter, Christine (Greg) Rogers, and Carole Neace; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The wake will be held on Monday, June 5, 2017 from 3pm-9pm at Friedrichs Funeral Home in Mt. Prospect, IL.
A funeral will celebrate Elisabeth’s life at 10am on Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at Bethel Baptist Church in Schaumburg, IL.
